Adirondacks, NY

The Adirondacks offer a tremendous amount of rock climbing for all ability levels. They are located about 5 hours north of New York City and can offer day trips to back-country adventures from small crags to multi-pitch routes on remote walls.

We offer professional instruction and guided rock climbing in the Adirondacks daily from May through November.

Popular locations for rock climbing include:

Chapel Pond area - located on RT 73, just before Keene Valley, it includes a vast amount of rock: Chapel Pond Slab, The Beer Walls, Upper and Lower Washbowl, Creature Wall, Spanky's Wall, The Spider's Web, and much more.

Lake Placid area - located on RT 73 between Keene and Lake Placid; the area contains a vast amount of rock including: Hurricane Crag, Pitchoff Chimney Cliff, Barkeater Cliff, Owls Head, Cascade Cliff, Moss Cliff, and many others.

High Peaks - backcountry, alpine style routes consisting of long approaches and descents, and involved climbing: such as Henderson Cliff, Wallface (the highest cliff in New York State, and the most remote cliff east of the Rockies), Avalanche Pass, Gothics, Noonmark, Rooster Comb, and others.

Eastern & Southern areas - In addition to the "High Peaks" region, there are numerous other locations for climbing including: Poke-O-Moonshine, Roger's Rock (where a canoe ride is the approach), Pharaoh Mountain, Barton High Cliff, Snowy Mountain, and more.
