Eric Ratkowski

AMGA Certified Single Pitch Instructor, AMGA Rock Instructor Course graduate (2014), New York State Licensed Guide, Wilderness First Responder

Eric is tall and from Detroit.

He discovered climbing in a Houston gym while studying architecture at Rice University but didn't get serious about it until moving to New York in 2007. Since then he has traveled- the contiguous 48, Canada, Mexico, and Greece- looking for long rock or aid climbs where he can skip the crux by reaching to the next jug.

Along the way he has taught architecture and building to city kids, rappelled down a Stamford skyscraper in a Grinch costume, worked rigging on New York’s skyscrapers, and managed a furniture shop on the remote shores of Fogo Island in Newfoundland.

Eric loves climbing, loves the Gunks, and enjoys sharing his knowledge of both with those who are new to the sport or the area.
