Our cancellation policy is as follows:

When you schedule a day or trip with Alpine Endeavors you are agreeing to our cancellation policy. Please understand that if your plans do not go as planned in any way and for any reason, we are unable to provide credits or refunds outside of what is described below. Our policy was carefully designed with respect for our clients, our administrative staff, our guides, and other guests who may be joining you on a trip.

  1. If you cancel for any reason for any of our local privately scheduled programs (Gunks and Catskills ONLY) with 15 or more days notice to the date, you can reschedule or receive a refund minus a 5% cancellation fee. If you cancel between 8 and 14 days before the date, you can reschedule only, subject to availability, there are no refunds. if you cancel 7 days or less from the date there are no refunds or rescheduling.

  2. Alpine Endeavors reserves the right to change or cancel any itinerary or program at any time due to weather*, conditions, insufficient enrollment, or other reasons without penalty to Alpine Endeavors. Due to the rapidly changing conditions with weather, we can not give set timeline for notification. If we have to cancel a program due to weather or low enrollment, the day can be rescheduled based on availability, or the deposit will be fully refunded for private bookings (not special events). Special events that are canceled due to weather/conditions/etc will have the fees credited to your account for a future date

  3. The final balance is dependent upon the size of your party that you originally scheduled. If your party size decreases to a number resulting in less guides needed, please let us know as soon as possible - if its less than 8 days before your scheduled day, we charge you to cover the extra guide(s) scheduled. If your party size increases, we need to know as soon as possible to be able to schedule another guide and will adjust the rates according to the new amount of participants.

  4. These reasons are usually based from a participant jeopardizing the safety of themselves or another participant, guide, or others. This includes participants who are not physically or mentally able to climb at the level necessary for the chosen objective. In the event of a removal of any participants, there are no refund, and participants will be responsible for any additional costs incurred with leaving the program, and any additional costs incurred with for the guide if they have to leave because of it.

*Weather

The weather changes daily - please contact us the evening before your scheduled day if you have concerns about the weather.  Due to the constantly changing weather, we do not make any calls less than 24hours out, and most often early the morning of. if we do not reach out to you, please plan on the day.

Weather cancellations are up to the guide to decide, not the registrant.

  • If we experience bad weather while out for a private scheduled program locally in the Shawangunk, Catskills, the day may be: adjusted to allow for the day to continue. but with a different activity; or be pro-rated to full (four or more hours) or half-day (up to four hours) rates. Bad weather is always a possibility in the mountains, so there is no rescheduling or refunds for special events, non-local, remote, or multi-day trips when we are out there in the field. An example of events not covered for refund are: Shawangunk and Catskills events like the Catskill Ice Festival or Gunks Rock Weekend, AMGA SPI Course or Assessment, Adirondack Ice, trips to North Cascades, etc).

  • Although we can plan to climb a specific route or peak, no guarantees are made ( the mountains have too many variables). Our purpose is to use our judgment and experience to share with you a rewarding experience, both up and down. If a concerning situation arises, the guide makes the final decision and may turn around early. There will be no refunds or rescheduling. However, if time allows while we are on a trip, another climb or activity may be arranged.
